Dragon Slayer's Den

Dragon Slayer’s Den provides students with the opportunity to present their innovative business ideas to a panel of judges.
Participants will have 90 seconds to pitch their idea followed by 3-5 minutes of open questioning with the judges.
The event will run between 7:30-9:00pm on Wednesday November 16th. It will take place in the Champlain College Great Hall at Trent University.
First, second and third place winners will receive cash prizes of $150, $100 and $50 respectively.
The winners will be announced at our closing night which will be held at The Venue on November 18th beginning at 4pm and ending at 7pm.

$5 Challenge

The $5 Challenge is a competition that challenges teams to develop a business strategy that will create the most value starting with $5. Teams may pick up their kickoff packages on Monday November 14th in the Gzowski Atrium between 8:00am and 12:00pm.

Teams then spend the week preparing and executing their plan.

On Friday November 18th, teams are asked to meet at The Venue at 4:00pm. Here teams will assemble in front of a panel of judges to present their business idea and the value they've created. In addition, here teams must return the beginning $5 capital and donate 10% of their monies earned to the Youth Emergency Shelter. Students may keep their remaining earnings.

First Place Prize includes:
- $150 worth of Best Buy Gift Cards
- Lunch with a local entrepreneur
- Keep 90% of their earnings

Second Place Prize includes:
- $50 worth of gift cards to The Community Butcher Shop
- Coffee with Scott Waldsworth (founder of The Community Butcher Shop)
- Keep 90% of their earnings

Kickoff packages will include:

- $5 Challenge rules and regulations
- Beginning $5 capital
- Itinerary for the week
- Judging criteria for November 18th presentation
